Aims

To cover the use of splints in practice to manage occlusal and functional problems including, bruxism, TMD and snoring.

Objectives

The practical elements cover the clinical records including facebows and occlusal records through to the fitting and adjustment of all splints including Michigan and Tanner appliances, as well as anti-bruxism splints.

Learning outcomes

After this course, delegates will be able to:

Understand the important features of occlusion

Intervene in a safe and ethical way

Appreciate when to use each type of occlusal splint

To be able to take the clinical records for each splint including impressions, jaw registrations and facebow records where necessary

To be able to fit and adjust each splint.
