Aims

The aim of the course is to comply with GDC requirements and provide verifiable CPD for the participants.

Although this is not an IRMER course in relation to IRMER it will clarify the role of the dental nurse assisting in the provision of high quality radiographs.will cover many of the key points of radiation protection, quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff.

Objectives

The course will cover many of the key points of radiation protection, quality assurance and dose limitation to patients and staff.

Learning outcomes

1) Be aware of the process by which radiographs are produced and how to identify problem areas if they arise.

2) Be able to assist the Dentist or Dental Care Professional in the layout and preparation of materials required for a range of radiographic techniques.

3) Be aware of their responsibilities under current IRMER legislation and how to aid the establishment of excellent quality assurance procedures.

4) Have a better understanding of the requirements to maintain a processor which provides high quality radiographs.

5) Have an understanding of the different types of digital systems available and how to overcome practical issues when working with them in practice.
