Mandatory: Dental Hygienist, or Dental Nurse, or Dental Technician, or Dentist

• To discuss partial denture theory with emphasis on: principles of denture design, overdentures, overlay dentures, management of free end saddles and briefly rehabilitation of patients with palatal defects.
• To discuss complete denture theory with emphasis on: principles of complete denture design, impression techniques, occlusal registration techniques, management of flabby ridges, and basic implant retained overdentures.

By the end of the event delegates will be able to:

• Summarise the principles of partial and complete denture design
• Describe which impression and occlusal registration techniques may be appropriate when managing a removable prosthodontic patient.
• List the design features of overlay/overdentures.
• Clinically manage a patient with combination syndrome predictably.
• Describe the principles of duplicate and immediate denture prosthodontics.
• Describe the attachment systems of basic implant retained overdentures.
• Recall that patients with palatal defects can be rehabilitated with obturators and need referral to a specialist centre.
