This course is aimed at the whole dental team to gain better understanding of infection control and decontamination of instruments in primary care dental practices

The Speaker of this course is a CQC Dental Specialist Advisor who has participated in primary and secondary care dental inspections and in 2018 trained all the CQC Inspectors on infection control and decontamination.

Aims

This course is aimed at clarifying safe practice & decontamination procedures within primary dental care in line with HTM 01-05 (Amended 31st March 2013).

Objectives
  • To give an account of how to implement decontamination procedures in line with HTM 01-05, as amended on 31st March 2013;
  • Describe the procedures for dental unit water line maintenance and overview management of water systems in line with HTM 01-05, HTM 04-01, HSE ACOP L8 and the HSE HSG274 Part 2 (2014);
  • Provide an overview on audit, validation and traceability in relation to infection control and management of dental instruments;
  • Discuss the Health & Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activates) Regulations 2014 and explore how to demonstrate compliance with the regulations at a CQC inspection.
Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, delegates will have greater understanding of HTM 01-05, dental unit water line management and the sort of questions which may be asked during a routine CQC inspection.
