To improve the understanding of the relative anatomy

To be aware of basic oral surgical principles

To provide better understanding of assessment and treatment planning

To assess a patient and to identify a suitable procedure at primary care level

To be able to avoid complications and ability to recognise when and what treatment might be effective and appropriate; or whether the condition requires a referral to a specialist

To perform surgery in a simulated setting and have the skills to develop this onto the real patient setting

To manage patients effectively in a primary care setting
