Description | There are six one-day practical and interactive workshops covering the key management areas. The workshops are held every two months and you can attend the full series of six workshops, or simply attend individual days.
Additional information | This webinar is running via Zoom. Registration and joining instructions will be made available via your Maxcourse account, after you have booked your place. To view the instructions head to ‘my courses’, select the course title and you will see the documents section. Please register via Zoom, using the link provided in the document, as far in advance as possible to prevent any delays in receiving the meeting link and password. This document is only visible to those booked on the course, please do not share this with others. Only those with a place booked via Maxcourse will receive their CPD certificate after attendance of the webinar. Please note that this is one of six workshops designed to ensure dentists and managers feel confident that they are managing their practices as efficiently and as effectively as possible. Although open to all, those in, or aspiring to, a position of responsibility are likely to benefit most. This learning also complements the content of several external qualifications. Whilst each course stands alone, delegates may want to consider booking all six sessions. Workshop 1 starts in Sheffield when Leeds hosts workshop 2, so that they are out of sync, therefore there is an opportunity to make up for any workshop where the delegate is away by attending at the opposite venue.

Aims | What a delegate can hope to take from the workshop To be able to carry out an analysis of the organisation and its environment By looking at what delegates are currently doing well and understanding what they do not do so well. Also start to find out what patients want from the practice and so the manager will be able to begin to formalise short and long-term plans. How to devise a mission statement and some strategic objectives for an organisation The manager will then start to identify how this overall plan for the practice can be structured into both a vision, in the form of mission statement, and some clear goals, in the form of strategic objectives. The use of SMART objectives and strategy versus tactics is explained. Be able to prepare an implementation plan The vision and goals can then be broken down further into the basics of an implementation plan which can then act as an immediate and structured approach to bringing improvement to the practice. Devise how to communicate the plan and get buy-in from the practice team In order for this structured approach to work, the vision and the goals must be clearly communicated to all levels of staff. The final part of this workshop will look at how this can be done to maximise the chances of understanding and buy-in from the team.
Objectives | Development outcome: AB By the end of the course delegates will be able to: Carry out an analysis of the organisation and its environment Create a mission statement and a strategic plan for an organisation Take a strategy and break it down into a workable programme Communicate and get buy-in from the practice team
