DescriptionTeaching, Group Facilitation and Presenting, remotely This two day programme is designed specifically for clinical teachers and aims to enhance and increase your skills in teaching and supervising in clinical environments. You will have the opportunity to teach a small group of your peers and receive feedback on your teaching approach. You will participate in two micro teaching sessions: presenting, and teaching practical skills and discuss adapting to remote learning. You will receive and give evaluative feedback in a supportive and fun environment with your peers.
Additional information

Participants are to prepare one five minute teaching session prior to day 1.

Handout pdf will be available to you once you have secured your place.  This document will be in the document section of your course booking on Maxcourse and will provide further information.

It is mandatory to both days of this course on the same programme. Please do not book on this course if you have already booked/attended one of our other Teaching Skills courses.

If you have already undertaken a Certificate in Education, you do not need to apply for this course.

Participants will be expected to spend some time outside the programme time preparing material for the micro-teaching sessions.

Aims

The course covers all 7 educational aspects of the GMC requirements for post graduate medical supervisors, including how to manage tricky issues in supervision and create effective clinical teaching and supervision experiences.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be better able to:

· Differentiate between learner-centered and teacher-centered teaching

· Formulate learning objectives for knowledge skills and attitudes, appropriate to learners at different stages

· Use a structured approach for planning all learning episodes, including remote teaching

· Select teaching methods and strategies appropriate to a chosen topic, adapting to a remote environment

· Employ strategies to actively involve learners in their learning, including in a remote environment

· Employ strategies to optimise the supervision process

· Give constructive and sensitive feedback to peers and learners

Reflect on and evaluate one’s own and peers teaching practices as a basis for further development
