Aims

This course will help attendees understand:

  • the importance of interceptive orthodontics in managing common orthodontic anomalies
  • the interface between dental and maxillofacial radiology and orthodontics
Objectives

Teaching will include:

  • recognising and managing impacted canines
  • guidelines for planning the extraction of poor prognosis first permanent molars
  • the use of imaging in orthodontics, including CBCT
Learning outcomes

An understanding of:

  • occlusal anomalies appropriate for early interceptive orthodontics
  • when it is most appropriate to refer for interceptive orthodontics
  • the correct use of IOTN
  • the use of CBCT in orthodontics
