Aims

To develop DCTs knowledge of the dental public health specialty.

Objectives

To develop understanding of core principles of dental public health.

To describe the structure of the NHS and partner organisations involved in NHS dentistry.

To give an overview of how dentistry is commissioned and the role of DPH.

To participate in a dental public health scenario and peer discussion to better understand the breadth of the DPH specialty.

Learning outcomes

To improve knowledge of the core principles and pillars of dental public heath.

To develop awareness of the key organisations and structures in which NHS dentistry sits.

To understand the role of dental public health in commissioning NHS dentistry.

To understand the types scenarios a consultant in Dental Public Health would receive during a typical working day through participation in scenario practice and peer discussion.
