Aims

This one day theoretical and clinical hands-on course will cover clinical management of patients with established periodontal disease and the care and Maintenance of Dental Implants.

Objectives
  • Formulate a care pathway for periodontal patients.
  • Discuss the clinical management of codes 3 and 4 and when to refer.
  • Recognise the importance of personalised bio feedback in the behaviour change model.
  • Refresh knowledge of the 2017 perio classification, current periodontal guidelines and apply in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Learning outcomes

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge and understanding to the management of periodontal disease and return to practice with increased confidence.
  • Undertake an initial Assessment of Dental Implants and identify when dental implants may be failing.
  • Understand the implications of poor oral hygiene around dental implants and the patient’s role in homecare ie: ownership
