Aims

To discuss medical conditions that affect children and discuss the impact on health and subsequent management. Followed by a basic refresher on Clinical Governance in relation to Paediatric Dentistry.

Objectives
  • To train Level 2 practitioners to safely provide dental care to patients with medical conditions
  • Further knowledge of the roles of a consultant, specialist, tier 2 and primary care practitioner in the delivery of specialist paediatric dental care
  • Identify areas where audit and quality improvement projects would be of benefit
Learning outcomes
  • Discuss dental treatment for patients with common medical conditions & their associated oral consequences.
  • Correspond with other healthcare professionals to ensure Paediatric patients have dental care provided in the optimally
  • Knowledge of clinical governance processes in relation to specialist dental services and be able to carry out and lead clinical governance projects
