DescriptionThe course is not a Resuscitation Council accredited ILS course but will satisfy the IACSD requirements for immediate life support training for teams practicing IV and inhalation sedation as it has equivalent content and is adapted to the needs of dental practice. Participants will need to be up to date with BLS and airway management training. The training will be held in a dental surgery .

Aims

To update knowledge and skills required to perform CPR/AED and manage medical emergencies and ILS skills relevant to the dental team.

Objectives

• Scenario based training in a dental surgery environment to match the IASCD and SDCEP learning outcomes for medical emergency training for sedation teams. • Support, recognise and manage common medical emergencies in the dental practice and administer drugs appropriate to your role in the clinical team

Learning outcomes

• Demonstrate the use of the ABCDE approach in the recognition and management of a sick patient. • Recognise respiratory depression and cardiac arrest and demonstrate safe cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway management. Describe when to call for an ambulance/crash team. • Demonstrate the safe and effective operation of an automated external defibrillator.
