DescriptionDr Willcoxson is a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at Leeds General Infirmary and Clinical Director Yorkshire and Humber CHD ODN. She has worked closely with the specialist dentists in our region to ensure we are meeting the NHSE guidelines with regards to dental care and is currently conducting an audit of our endocarditis cases with the microbiology lead for our service in the hope learning can be had from this patient group.

Aims

To provide an update on the region's Paediatric Cardiology Service, endocarditis and a review of the NHSE Paediatric Cardiology Standards (specifically those linked with paediatric dentistry)

Objectives

• To provide an overview of the paediatric cardiology service in Yorkshire and the Humber • To discuss the importance of endocarditis and to highlight specific areas of prevention and education • To outline the NHSE paediatric cardiology dental standards

Learning outcomes

o Understand the importance of endocarditis prevention

o Know what steps are in place to do this in our region

o Access accurate information related to endocarditis for our patients
