Aims

To provide training for dentists who refer patients for CBCT imaging, in order to be able to request appropriately and to understand reported imaging. The course content is in line with EADMFR Level 1 training recommendations.

Objectives

· Understand principles of radiation physics and radiation protection as applied to CBCT, including justification and referral criteria

· Recognise common artefacts seen in CBCT images

· Be familiar with the anatomy of the teeth and supporting structures as displayed on CBCT

· Be aware of basic principles of interpretation of common dental pathologies on CBCT, including interpretation of a radiological report.
