Aims | This course aims to provide DCPs with knowledge and understanding of current guidance and legislation requirements for a number of lifelong learning topics with the GDC. Topics should satisfy most PDPs for those undertaking a clinical role in dentistry. |
Objectives | B - Radiography & Radiation Protection (2 hours vCPD) GDC Outcome C Discuss current Legislation IR(ME)R 2018 and IRR 2017. Define radiation protection in dental environments. Explain the principles of dental radiography. Identify quality assurance techniques used in radiographs and equipment. B – Transmission of Infection & Certificate in Hand Hygiene Training (2 hours vCPD) GDC Outcome B,C Discuss diseases relevant to dentistry. Describe the Chain of Infection and understand the transmission of various infections. Conduct a hand hygiene audit and receive a separate Certificate in Hand Hygiene & PPE. B – Health & Safety (1 hour vCPD) GDC Outcome B,C Understand the principals of Health & Safety including Risk Assessments. List actions to improve health, safety and wellbeing of self and others. Describe accident reporting requirements in line with legislation. B – Handling Complaints (1 hour vCPD) GDC Outcome A,D Consider the Principles of complaints handling in dental environments. Manage and record complaints effectively. |
