DescriptionThis full day course provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for a dental nurse to feel confident and competent in their ability to take dental impressions under the prescription of a dentist or CDT.
Additional information

Delegates must be a GDC registrant, have Individual Indemnity Insurance and hold a current CPR / medical emergency CPD certificate.

Delegates should be able to provide the name of a supervising mentor willing to provide full support for 10 reflective log sheets undertaken in the clinical setting.

Dental Nurses applying for this course should be registered with the GDC, have individual Indemnity and a recent CPD certificate in medical emergency training.

Aims

This course aims to provide dental nurses with knowledge and understanding of the principles for dental impression taking. It will provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure safe practice

Objectives

By the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate essential skills and knowledge in dental impression materials in order to facilitate patient treatment and care.
  • Discuss evaluating and grading impressions and reflect on technique to improve practice.
  • Describe legislative requirements including H&S, waste management, infection control.
  • Explain methods for managing anxious patients.
  • Feel confident to take accurate dental impressions under prescription from dentist or CDT.
