Aims

To help practitioners improve their tooth preparation skills to produce more successful adhesive and conventional coverage restorations.

Objectives

After the presentation, delegates should:

Be more confident with extra-coronal tooth preparation and understand the principles of retention and resistance form.

Be able to use putty matrices as an aid to improving their extra-coronal tooth preparations.

Understand the design features of different extra coronal restorations to include metal ceramic crowns, full gold crowns, dentine bonded crowns, labial ceramic veneers and adhesive gold onlays.

Understand how to prepare a metal ceramic crown, full gold crown, dentine bonded crowns, labial ceramic veneer and an adhesive gold onlay.

Appreciate the importance of an accurate master impression/locating impression/jaw registration when providing fixed prosthodontics.
