Description | An exciting opportunity to discover a brand new role for dental nurses that has recently been approved by Skills for Health. It fits in the dental career structure at a higher level than a dental nurse but below a dental hygienist, therapist and dentist. About this role. The Oral Health Practitioner will work to the direction of a dentist to perform a range of oral health preventative procedures including: plaque indices and debris scores, apply fluoride varnish, take clinical photographs, take impressions and carry out toothbrushing in a patients mouth. The role will also enable dental nurses to carry out general health screening activities by checking for diabetes and taking blood pressure. Aims | Aims of the course This course is an introduction to the newly approved Oral Health Practitioner role for qualified Dental Nurses. Delegates will will be given information about the course: entry requirements, duration and commitment. There will be opportunities during the session for clinical hands on experience in a range of syllabus procedures. |
