DescriptionThis 2 day foundation award will ensure dental nurses are ready to support patients in oral health promotion when the New prevention led NHS contract is implemented in 2020.
Additional information

Attendance at both educational days is mandatory.

Delegates are required to undertake additional independent learning; create a patient display in the workplace and produce a 500-700 word case study based on a patient they have seen twice in clinic.

Prior reading of the document Delivering Better Oral Health is required.

Aims

Dental nurses provide a key role in oral health education and support prevention in primary care. This course will enable dental nurses to deliver evidence based oral health key messages to patients to improve and promote better oral health.

Objectives

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to;

Deliver key OH messages to all patient groups

Recognise the importance of communication skills

Evaluate patient OH sessions to enable structure and learning

Create an educational display to encourage positive behaviour change
