Aims

To discuss medical conditions that affect children and discuss the impact on health and subsequent management. This will be followed by a basic refresher on Clinical Governance in relation to Paediatric Dentistry.

Objectives

To train Level 2 practitioners to safely provide dental care to patients with medical conditions

Further knowledge of the roles of a consultant, specialist, level 2 and primary care practitioner in the delivery of specialist paediatric dental care

Identify areas where audit and quality improvement projects would be of benefit

Learning outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of dental treatment for patients with common medical conditions & their associated oral consequences.

Correspond with other healthcare professionals to ensure Paediatric patients have dental care provided in the optimal environment

Lead and undertake clinical governance projects
