Aims

To enhance knowledge, skills and competencies in safeguarding children and to discuss dental neglect and its impact on children

Objectives

This course will discuss dental neglect as a sign of wider neglect, build confidence in how and when to make a referral and explore what happens once a referral has been made. Case based scenarios will be used to consolidate knowledge.

Learning outcomes

Apply knowledge in decision making relating to safeguarding including information sharing and when to make a referral

Demonstrate and give examples of how to escalate and when to liaise with others

Explain how to use a staged model for managing dental neglect
