Aims
  • To improve understanding of evidence based oral health and oral hygiene advice.
  • To deliver oral hygiene advice to patients and /or their carers in line with the “Delivering Better Oral Health” document from the Department of Health.
Objectives
  • Demonstrate ability to instruct the patient in methods of plaque control.
  • Demonstrate ability to instruct the patient in prevention of caries.
  • Be competent in offering patient dietary advice.
  • Demonstrate the ability to instruct the patient in the use of fluoride.
  • Demonstrate the ability to instruct the patient in the prevention of periodontal disease.
  • Be competent in offering brief stop smoking advice.
  • Discuss the prevention of erosion.
  • Discuss alcohol misuse support.
