Aims
  • To provide a clear understanding of the reasons for implementing effective cross infection control procedures.
  • To provide knowledge of the micro-organisms, which may be transferred through dental procedures.
  • To introduce the legislative aspects, which relate to Cross Infection Control in the dental environment.
  • To provide a detailed explanation of the practices and procedures for implementing effective Cross Infection Control as recommended in the DoH HTM 01-05.

  • Describe the potential transfer of microorganisms in a dental setting.
  • Discuss current legaslitive requirements for infection control.
  • Recognise effective processes for implamentation of the Department of Health HTM 01 05
