  • To improve the understanding of the relative anatomy
  • To be aware of basic oral surgical principles
  • To provide better understanding of assessment and treatment planning
  • To assess a patient and to identify a suitable procedure at primary care level
  • To be able to avoid complications and ability to recognise when and what treatment might be effective and appropriate; or whether the condition requires a referral to a specialist

  • To assess the patient prior to treatment
  • To perform surgery in a simulated setting and have the skills to develop this onto the real patient setting
  • To manage patients effectively in a primary care setting
  • To be able to avoid, recognise and refer if complication arises
