Aims

This course aims to satisfy most PDP requirements to understand legislation and guidelines whilst undertaking a clinical role in dentistry.

Objectives
  • Discuss the DoH guidance document HTM 01 05 and explore how to comply with essential quality requirements and best practice.
  • Receive training in the transmission of infections.
  • Explore legislation IR(ME)R and IRR and what it means to DCPs
  • Explain the principals of dental radiography
  • Identify quality assurance techniques
  • Recognise personal and professional responsibilities of being a registrant with the GDC and the impact it has on activities.
  • Consider the principals of complaints handling in dental environments.
  • Describe key risk factors associated with oral cancer.
  • Discuss preventative methods to support patients
