DescriptionThis course consists of a series of interactive presentations and workshops to update all members of the dental team on issues relating to the provision of conscious sedation for adult and paediatric patients.
Additional information

The course will include pharmacological and non-pharmacological techniques and an update on guidelines for current practice. Delegates are encouraged to bring along interesting /challenging cases for the panel of experts to discuss and this course will provide some of the CPD that has been suggested by the IACSD guidelines (12 hours in every 5 year CPD cycle).

Aims
  • To update all members of the dental team on issues relating to the provision of conscious sedation for adult and child patients.
Objectives

By the end of the event participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the range of behavioural methods of anxiety reduction and evaluate their effectiveness and limitations
  • Discuss the appropriate uses of both adult and paediatric sedation in primary dental care and identify common sedation related complications
  • Critically assess risks associated with IV sedation and discuss ways to improve patient safety
