Aims

This is an interactive course with the aim of better understanding consent and its dento/legal obligations and implications.

Objectives
  • To discuss the legal aspects of consent
  • To examine factors that can impact upon a patient’s ability to give consent
  • To understand the concept of capacity when gaining consent
  • To understand the impact of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on the provision of dental treatment.
  • To be able to describe how to make a Best Interest decision and when this would be appropriate.
