Aims

To provide GDPs, Community dentists, and their teams with tips on managing dentally anxious and phobic adult patients ahead of Tier 2 training in Special Care Dentistry.

Objectives
  • Briefly describe causes of dental anxiety
  • Explain a range of non pharmacological anxiety management techniques
  • Discuss the importance of the first appointment and patient journey to this point
  • Share top tips from personal experience of managing anxious patients
