Predictable Posterior Composites and LED Light Curing Units (DWD09JUN22)

AvailabilityCourse has taken place
SubjectComposites
DescriptionHands-on clinical course suitable for GDPs and Therapists to help them provide predictable direct posterior composite restorations. It will provide an update on the development of direct restorative materials for posterior use including bulkfil composites and amalgam alternatives. It will also address the reasons of early failures of resin composite including how to effectively choose and use your light curing unit. Hands-on practical session will be provided to demonstrate how to predictably restore posterior teeth with Bulkfil composites including use of sectional matrix system and tips to improve your technique and confidence in practice.

Important Information for Face to Face Courses

Please ensure you have a suitable face covering following government guidance. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering please notify us as soon as possible.

Please note: A face visor or shield may be worn in addition to a face covering but not instead of one. This is because face visors or shields do not adequately cover the nose and mouth, and do not filter airborne particles.

For delegates attending face to face courses please be advised that your details may be shared with NHS Test and Trace if requested.

Face to face attendees are reminded that:

Should they have symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste), they should not attend an event and let the organisers know by contacting dentaladmin.yh@hee.nhs.uk.

It is the individual’s duty and responsibility to comply with public health measures to control the Covid-19 pandemic and respond to NHS Test and Trace or local contact tracing systems. If contacted, attendees should confirm their attendance at this event and ask them to contact dentaladmin.yh@hee.nhs.uk for the attendee list.

Aims

To provide an update on the development of direct restorative materials suitable for posterior teeth including bulkfil composites and amalgam alternatives. The course will also aim to discuss the current developments of LED light curing units and factors impacting on the success of posterior composite restorations. The hands-on session will provide tips on how to produce successful posterior restorations with modern bulk fill composites.

Objectives
  • Understand the theory behind the introduction of bulk fill composites.
  • Be able to use modern materials to produce restorations with high quality seal and minimal shrinkage stress.
  • Understand the light curing process and the factors that could influence the polymerisation efficiency of resin composites.
  • Have had a chance to use sectional matrices to help provide the perfect contact point.
Learning outcomes

Delegates will have an update on the direct restorative materials available for posterior restorations and the factors that influence their clinical success. Delegates will also have further understanding of how to effectively use and maintain LED light curing units. Delegates will also be provided with clinical tips and techniques to help them improve their posterior composite restorations.
