| Aims | - To enable dental practitioners to develop an understanding of how children and vulnerable adults can be at risk of abuse.
 - To create an awareness of, and confidence in, using the processes that will enable an appropriate reaction within their role and responsibility.

| Objectives | On completion of the training the participants will have:- - Identified what is meant by safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
 - Discussed who are the vulnerable groups and how these are recognised in practice
 - Knowledge of the categories of child abuse and the signs and indicators of each one
 - Understood the 3 stages of assessment for dental practitioner where abuse is suspected
 - An awareness of adult abuse and indicators of physical abuse in adults
 - Identified actions that are required to ensure children and vulnerable adults are safeguarded in their dental practice.
 - Understood how to respond to concerns about the safety and welfare of a child or vulnerable adult using local and organisational safeguarding policies and procedures.
