Aims

To provide dental professionals with the knowledge and tools to select appropriate patients for sedation where mental health issues are present; and to provide dental professionals with the knowledge and tools to reduce the environmental impact of nitrous oxide sedation.

Objectives
  • Promote delegate knowledge of trauma informed care and its impact on the management of this patient group.
  • Identify red flags to be aware of at the sedation assessment stage, and educate on how to manage complications that may arise in this patient group
  • Increase delegate understanding of the environmental footprint of nitrous oxide and explore current mitigation strategies and their limitations in dental practice
  • Inform delegates of practical steps dentists can take to reduce their environmental impact whilst maintaining safe and effective sedation practices, and inform them how to engage with the GREEN-Dentistry initiative
Learning outcomes
