DescriptionAs part of the GP Trainer Reapproval Process, Trainers are required to attend an Experienced Educators Course.
Additional information

REQUIREMENTS

Five components, over each reapproval cycle (usually of 5 years) for established

trainers (two for new trainers).

If you are a new trainer, with reapproval planned in 2 years, all five components must be met

in the initial 2-year period. It will then be a further 5 years before the next reapproval date.

 

Attendance at 1-3, once within each cycle (usually 5 years for established trainers, 2 years

for new trainers):

  1. Attendance at the Experienced Educators Course
  2. Attendance at an ARCP panel as a reviewer
  3. Attendance at an exam update webinar
  4. Peer support – evidence of involvement at plenaries / trainer workshops.
  5. CPD – evidence of keeping updated in teaching and training education.

Experienced Educator’s Course

This is a one day, face to face event at a central location within Y&H, near to rail transport.

The day will include.

➢ Benchmarking of COT/CBD and CSR/ESR.

➢ Using SharePoint and accessing the Milestones document.

➢ The importance of Educator notes.

➢ Having difficult conversations with trainees and ensuring assessment grading is

accurate.

➢ Sit and Swap surgeries.

➢ Differential attainment.

➢ Neurodiversity.

➢ Opportunities for discussion, case studies and sharing of top tips and best

practice.

How do I evidence my attendance?

Post attendance, you need to record this on your PARE account and submit your reflections. Please follow the steps below: 

  1. Log into your PARE account, please select 'NO' in response to the question ' In this re-approval cycle, did you complete the Trainers Seminar between 2021 and August 2023?'.
  2. Then select the ‘Trainer Development Tab’ and scroll down to Experienced Educators Course Section.
  3. Complete the following sections:
  4. Date = Date of course you attended
  5. What did you learn?
  6. What will you do differently in the future as a result of this course?
  7. Ensure you select save at the bottom of the screen.
