DescriptionThis online workshop provides an overview and demonstration of different apps available to enhance your teaching and training. You’ll gain insight, skills and consider some of the challenges and issues raised by using technology, to help you to deliver engaging and participative training and teaching.

Aims

The course provides an opportunity to gain insight and skills to deliver engaging and participative teaching and training using a variety of software, apps and websites.

Objectives

The course will provide delegates with:

  • Demonstrations of interactive tools such as breakout rooms, interactive ‘whiteboards’, polls, quizzes, and other related features
  • An overview of how different apps and websites can be integrated within Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint, etc.
  • An opportunity to practice using a variety of tools – from both the trainee and trainer perspective – and time to reflect and plan on how some of the different features/apps could be utilised to improve their own teaching and training sessions
  • An overview of relevant teaching theory and how the use of these apps is following good practice
  • Time to reflect on some of the difficulties and challenges of using technology in their teaching and training, and how those challenges and difficulties can be overcome.
  • A consideration of how A.I. tools can be used to enhance their teaching and training, and to consider how trainees may be using some of these tools
Learning outcomes

By the end of the course delegates should:

  • Be aware of some of the interactive apps and websites available and the features they offer
  • Understand how to integrate different apps and websites withing the Zoom or Teams learning environment, and how they can be integrated into PowerPoint slides
  • Feel confident about their ability to use some of the features of the apps/websites covered on the course
  • Appreciate how they can incorporate the features/tools into their own teaching and training, and why this is following good educational practice
  • Be aware of some of the challenges or difficulties that can be presented, and have considered ways to overcome these
  • Have an understanding of some emerging A.I. tools and how they can be used to aid the development and delivery of teaching and training, and an understanding of how trainees may be using these tools.
