| Description | A 2 day course aimed at developing communication skills and expanding confidence in dealing with a range of communication challenges with patients, relatives and colleagues, including dealing with anger and other emotions. |
| Additional information | Participants will work in small groups using actors to explore a range of areas of challenging communication issues. When working online the size of the screen matters. You will have a better experience with a larger screen (computer or tablet). Joining by phone is not recommended and will detract from your experience. Booking courses Please ensure that you check your availability before booking a place and add the booking to your diary / calendar. Please ensure that you also book the relevant study leave in advance with your employer. Please refrain from booking multiple instances of the same course or course type to ensure that places are available to your colleagues. If a course is full, please add yourself to the waiting list and you will receive a notification if a place becomes available. Multiday courses This is a multiday course. The attendance requirements for multiday courses are: You must secure rota coordinator agreement for the time off for all course days before booking and follow the study leave process Attendance at all sessions is required in order to complete the course and be awarded a participation certificate If your availability changes before the course and you know that you will be unable to attend one or more sessions, you must cancel your place as soon as possible If you are absent from day 1 of the course, you will be withdrawn from the remainder of the course Joining Instructions This is a virtual course, the joining instructions for the virtual meeting will be added to the documents section (above) before the course. Please ensure that you are able to access this before the course so that you are ready to join on the day. Booking cancellation Participants must make every effort to attend courses they have booked. If your availability changes after booking, please cancel your place through Maxcourse as soon as possible. This will release the place for colleagues on the waiting list. | Learning outcomes | After attending this course participants will: Have built on, enhanced and reinforced their interpersonal skills and be able to communicate more effectively. Be more confident and assertive in dealing with difficult and sensitive situations. Be able to introduce a more sensitive use of language in their consulting and other aspects of communication. Recognise the impact and effect of poor communication and the need to enhance personal risk management. Understand the value of reflection and use this in their practice |
