Transforming Meetings Through the Thinking Environment as an Educator or Trainer (FD12MAY26)

We spend a lot of precious time in meetings - lets make them worth it! If you're fed up with meetings that start late, over-run, end with no concrete actions, only to do the same again next time, this session is for you. This session is for those who want and deserve to do better with their meetings!

Booking courses

Please ensure that you check your availability before booking a place and add the booking to your diary / calendar. Please ensure that you also book the relevant study leave in advance with your employer.

Please refrain from booking multiple instances of the same course or course type to ensure that places are available to your colleagues. If a course is full, please add yourself to the waiting list and you will receive a notification if a place becomes available.

Joining Instructions

This is a virtual course, the joining instructions for the virtual meeting will be added to the documents section (above) before the course. Please ensure that you are able to access this before the course so that you are ready to join on the day.

Booking cancellation

Participants must make every effort to attend courses they have booked. If your availability changes after booking, please cancel your place through Maxcourse as soon as possible. This will release the place for colleagues on the waiting list.

If you need to cancel within 1 week of the course or the course has started and you are not able to attend, please email england.lsfdcourses.yh@nhs.net to give your apologies.

This course is only available to Educational Supervisors, Education Leads, Training Programme Directors and Senior Faculty within Yorkshire and the Humber.

This session provides an opportunity for colleagues to learn how to facilitate and participate in engaging and effective meetings, that get people thinking and contributing at their very best.

• Understand the power of independent thinking.

• Learn how to create an environment that facilitates people to think at their very best, whether in a 1:1 supervision, team meeting or full-day training session.

• Appreciate the building blocks of effective meetings together with when and how to use them.

Underpinned by the 10 components of the Thinking Environment® conceived by Nancy Kline and outlined in her book, ‘More Time to Think’, the session will give participants the ability to…

• Set agendas that get participants thinking before they arrive.

• Facilitate engaging meetings that achieve better results and in less time.

• Draw on the resourcefulness of meeting attendees.

• Create an environment for teams to be imaginative in their problem solving.

• Ensure that high quality thinking goes beyond the meeting itself.
