Additional information

This interactive workshop is designed to build confidence and practical skills in delivering effective career conversations within a healthcare context. Over 3.5 hours, participants will explore both the theory and application of career coaching through a mix of short facilitator-led inputs, group discussion and reflective exercises.

The session focuses on real-world challenges such as managing expectations, setting boundaries and supporting individuals who may be uncertain about their career direction or considering alternative pathways. A key feature of the workshop is the introduction of the KIPPER model, providing a clear and structured approach to guiding career conversations, with opportunities to practise using this framework.

Participants will also be introduced to a range of practical tools, including values-based exercises, prioritisation techniques and coaching questions, alongside resources such as the BMA Specialty Explorer and NHS alternative careers information. Wider factors such as burnout, resilience and neurodiversity are also considered to support a holistic approach.

Attendees will receive a Career Conversations Resource Pack to support ongoing practice and will leave feeling more confident in using a coaching approach to help others make informed decisions about their career direction.
