| Description | This workshop is not designed to train new Supervisors, but to be a refresher. The GMC has arrangements for the formal recognition and approval of Clinical and Educational Supervisors which requires Health Education England to be responsible for recognizing trainers and forwarding these to the GMC for approval. |
| Additional information | The GMC (2012) states that ‘Doctors can be a named Educational Supervisor or named Clinical Supervisor without actively performing those roles all of the time. They must, though, maintain their skills by continuing to reflect on those roles – for example, through continuing professional development. This will need to be confirmed through their appraisal.’ Booking courses Please ensure that you check your availability before booking a place and add the booking to your diary / calendar. Please ensure that you also book the relevant study leave in advance with your employer. Please refrain from booking multiple instances of the same course or course type to ensure that places are available to your colleagues. | Aims | You will identify the current GMC requirements and how this affects the Roles, responsibilities and activities of Educational Supervisors. |
| Objectives | We will look at the role of the Educational Supervisor: Providing the current GMC requirements. Sharing the areas defined in the Professional Development Framework along with the roles, responsibilities and activities We will enhance reflective practice in trainees: Addressing the common progression issues, the role of feedback from an Educational Supervisors and the latest guidance on ‘reflection’. Also coaching a reflection and concerns in the right context. Lastly covered is the role of feedback from Educational Supervisors: o When and how we give feedback o Key principles |
