Description | The GMC has arrangements for the formal recognition and approval of Clinical and Educational Supervisors which requires NHSE to be responsible for recognizing trainers and forwarding these to the GMC for approval. This workshop is not designed to train new Supervisors, but to be a refresher. |
Additional information | The GMC (2012) states that ‘Doctors can be a named Educational Supervisor or named Clinical Supervisor without actively performing those roles all of the time. They must, though, maintain their skills by continuing to reflect on those roles – for example, through continuing professional development. This will need to be confirmed through their appraisal.’ There is no formal pre-work for this workshop however you may wish to think in advance regarding the objectives, or do some reading around the topic.
