DescriptionThis two-day online course empowers postgraduate doctors to excel in medical education. Through interactive workshops and collaboration, participants gain knowledge, skills, and confidence in educational theory and practice. The course focuses on preparing them to teach effectively and inclusively.
Additional information

This blended course combines two live sessions with structured online materials completed during sessions. Learning is cohort-based, incorporating experiential and social learning principles. The course uses a range of delivery methods including discussion, practical exercises, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. No prior preparation is required beyond engaging with the course platform. It is suitable for doctors at any stage of training with an interest in teaching or education.

Multiday courses

This is a multiday course. The attendance requirements for multiday courses are:

You must secure rota coordinator agreement for the time off for all course days before booking and follow the study leave process

Attendance at all sessions is required in order to complete the course and be awarded a participation certificate

If your availability changes before the course and you know that you will be unable to attend one or more sessions, you must cancel your place as soon as possible

If you are absent from day 1 of the course, you will be withdrawn from the remainder of the course

Aims

The development of knowledge, skills and confidence in teaching and training in medicine.

Objectives
  • Introduce core principles of adult learning and medical education theory.
  • Provide practical tools for planning, delivering, and evaluating teaching in clinical and small group settings.
  • Develop participants’ skills in supervision, feedback, and supporting learners in difficulty.
