Objectives

This hands-on, half-day workshop is packed with practical activities and real-world application to help managers overcome the most common challenges they face in career conversations. Building on your prior experience with the Career Conversation Toolkit, you’ll refine your skills, gain fresh perspectives, and leave with actionable strategies.

Through a mix of individual reflection, peer learning, and guided practice, you will:

· Review and refresh your understanding of the Career Conversation Model and Toolkit, reinforcing the core principles and how to use them effectively.

· Work through prepared case studies and simulated scenarios to test out approaches and explore solutions to familiar career conversation challenges.

· Create and practice your own real-life case study, receiving tailored feedback to help you tackle similar situations back in the workplace.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

· Identify and overcome common barriers that arise during career conversations, using practical strategies and peer insights.

· Apply the Career Conversation Toolkit with greater confidence and flexibility, adapting it to suit different individuals, situations, and challenges.

· Handle real-life career conversation scenarios effectively, using newly developed tools, techniques, and feedback from facilitated practice.

· These outcomes will help managers strengthen their ability to engage in meaningful, solution-focused career discussions that support employee development and organisational goals.
