SubjectProfessional Skills
DescriptionA 2 day course aimed at developing communication skills and expanding confidence in dealing with a range of communication challenges with patients, relatives and colleagues. There will be opportunities to practice, in a safe environment, a variety of approaches to tackle these issues. The learning will be problem based and experiential.
Additional information

Participants will work in small groups using actors to explore a range of areas of challenging communication issues. When working online the size of the screen matters. You will have a better experience with a larger screen (computer or tablet. Joining by phone is not recommended and will detract from your experience.

Multiday courses

This is a multiday course. The attendance requirements for multiday courses are:

You must secure rota coordinator agreement for the time off for all course days before booking and follow the study leave process

Attendance at all sessions is required in order to complete the course and be awarded a participation certificate

If your availability changes before the course and you know that you will be unable to attend one or more sessions, you must cancel your place as soon as possible

If you are absent from day 1 of the course, you will be withdrawn from the remainder of the course

Booking cancellation

Participants must make every effort to attend courses they have booked. If your availability changes after booking, please cancel your place through Maxcourse as soon as possible. This will release the place for colleagues on the waiting list.

  • To develop skills in reading cues from others and responding to them effectively
