Target audience

This Lunch and Learn session is designed for supervisors in primary care who are part of the Community of Practice. It aims to provide valuable insights and encourage peer learning and collaboration.

Target audience: Primary care supervisors, including GPs, AHPs, and others in educational supervision roles.

Aims

To explore the principles of learning theories and styles, equipping supervisors with the skills to adapt their approach to support diverse supervisees effectively.

To provide supervisors with theoretical knowledge and practical insights on understanding learning theories and styles and facilitate peer learning through community discussion.

Objectives
  • Understand key learning theories (e.g., behaviourism, constructivism, cognitive theory) and their application in supervision.
  • Identify different learning styles (e.g., VARK, Kolb) and how to adapt supervision methods to suit them.
  • Learn how adult learning principles influence the supervision process and how to utilise this knowledge to meet supervisees' needs.
  • Feel empowered to implement shared insights into their supervision practices.
Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to integrate learning theories and styles into their supervision approach to better support supervisees' development.

Participants will feel confident in using a flexible, holistic approach to engage supervisees and address their individual learning needs.
