This Lunch and Learn session is designed for supervisors in primary care who are part of the Community of Practice. It aims to provide valuable insights and encourage peer learning and collaboration.

Aims

To provide supervisors with an understanding of reflective practice, its importance in supervision, and practical tools to encourage and facilitate reflective thinking in their supervisees.

To provide supervisors with theoretical knowledge and practical insights on reflective practice in supervision and facilitate peer learning through community discussion.

Objectives
  • Recognise the purpose and benefits of reflective practice in supervision.
  • Understand different models of reflection (e.g. Gibbs, Johns, Rolfe) and how to apply them effectively.
  • Develop skills in asking reflective questions to guide supervisees’ learning and professional growth.
  • Identify and address common barriers to reflective practice
  • Understand and apply reflective models to structure professional discussions.
  • Develop questioning techniques to promote critical thinking and self-awareness
  • Feel empowered to implement shared insights into their supervision practices.
