DescriptionThis one day programme equips attendees with the skills to potentially lead a stress free life.
Additional information

The program includes a unique, confidential pre training questionnaire which profiles personal strengths & liabilities in coping skills. The Challenge of Change Profile™ has been validated & provides a focused & detailed action plan for implementing change. You will be provided with access instructions to complete the questionnaire when you register for the programme. Please bring your results with you to the training.

In addition to a detailed workbook that will be provided there are mindfulness exercises that can be downloaded from the Challenge of Change website. The day after the workshop participants are automatically sent detailed additional advice for addressing profile scores and you will receive access to a follow up video the Challenge of Change refresher 90 days after the training.

Pre-course preparation 

An online Personal Resilience Profile needs to be completed by all participants before attending the training on the 21 January. Please see the 'pre-course assessment instructions' above for information about how to access and complete your profile. It is completely confidential to the person completing it, but we do ask everyone to have their scores with them as it does form part of the training.

Booking instructions

  • Please only book this course if you are available to attend the course and have applied for study leave in advance where required.
  • Please only book onto one instance of the same course.
  • If your availability changes, please cancel your place as soon as possible. If this is within one week of the course, you must email the team on england.lsfdcourses.yh@nhs.net.
  • Online bookings for the course will close one week prior to the course start date. If you wish to attend after this, you must email the team and they will inform you whether this is possible.
  • Where the course is a multi-session course, you must attend all sessions.
  • If the course is virtual, joining instructions will be available under the documents section prior to the course. You must join the course within 30 minutes of the start time unless you have agreed differently with the course facilitator, otherwise you will not be allowed to attend the course.

Target audience

This course is restricted to trainee doctors and dentists who are taking time out of training or who have returned to training within the last 3 months. Please only book if you meet this criteria. IMG trainee doctors may also attend within their first 6 months of working within the NHS. (IMG = International Medical Graduate.)

Aims

By the end of the programme delegates will have the theoretical and practical knowledge to implement the four steps to stress free living.

Objectives

Delegates will be able to articulate the four principles that underpin the training through interactive exercises

Delegates will understand the difference between stress and pressure, through group discussion

Delegates will understand and be able to practice, in situ, the four steps to stress free living, for example though a specific attention control exercise

Delegates will understand the relationship between stress and its physiological impact, through demonstration and personal application.
