DescriptionThis one-day course for those returning to training utilises a blended approach of presentations, group work and clinical skills / simulation-based learning provided within a safe environment to refresh the assessment of the acutely unwell patient and basic skills. This course is not suitable for parents to bring their children with them.

  • Please only book this course if you are available to attend the course and have applied for study leave in advance where required.

  • Online bookings for the course will close one week prior to the course start date. If you wish to attend after this, you must email the team and they will inform you whether this is possible.

Aims

To provide those returning to training an opportunity to refresh their skills and assessment of the acutely unwell patient and give them confidence to return to practice.

Objectives

The course utilises talks, clinical skills training using part-task trainers and scenario-based training using a high-fidelity manikin.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the delegates should have confidence to return to practice and:

· Have refreshed the A to E approach to assessing the acutely unwell patient including early warning score.

· Have refreshed basic clinical skills.

· Have been able to put theory into practice using simulation-based scenarios
