DescriptionThe NHS is focused on a more patient centred approach, so it is vital that medical professionals understand how to build an open, trusting rapport with their patient through active listening, understanding, clear speech and empathy. This interpersonal skills workshop has been designed to develop the participants knowledge, skill and confidence in the different styles of communication. We address verbal, nonverbal and paraverbal communication and how all three need to work together, and complement each other to produce effortless, and effective communication. We will also look developing self-awareness and managing emotion under pressure.
Additional information

This workshop will focus on communication skills with an emphasis on practical skills, therefore it will be an interactive workshop with an expectation that all delegates get involved. It is a priority of the facilitator to make this a safe, supportive environment for attendees to feel comfortable getting involved and expressing thoughts and concerns. Encouraged interaction will involve role play, asking questions in front of the group or through the chat box, and offering feedback.

As this is an interactive workshop it is a requirement that all attendees join the session from a quiet environment where they are able to fully interact and have their cameras on throughout.
