Description | This one-day workshop provides an opportunity to look at Imposter Syndrome in a safe and supportive environment: what Imposter Syndrome is, how it gets in the way of our work, and then more importantly what tools are available to manage it. | ||||
Additional information | Imposter Syndrome or Phenomenon is defined as ‘a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evidence of success’. ‘Imposters’ suffer chronic self-doubt and are unable to internalise their accomplishments however successful they are in their field. This phenomenon is prevalent in trainees and doctors. It can get in the way of both professional progress, and job satisfaction. Time out of training can exacerbate it. Because it is common, it is usually helpful to discuss it in a safe and supportive group setting, explore what it is, how it affects you and what you can do about it. What you need to do to prepare:

Useful info before joining Due to the interactive nature of this workshop it is essential you join from somewhere quiet where you can participate fully, with both your sound and video on. It will be important for your fellow group members that you are in a ‘confidential space’ and you minimise interruptions where possible. This webinar is running via Zoom. Aims | This workshop provides returning trainees with a supportive opportunity to explore imposter syndrome, its impact on ourselves and what we can do to manage it. | ||||
Objectives | Through a mixture of slides, personal reflection and pairs and small group discussion we will look at what Imposter Syndrome is and how it gets in the way of our work. We will also explore , evidence-based tools available to us to manage it and have a go at some of these. | ||||
