DescriptionThis half-day morning session (9:00-13:00) explores how to identify, analyse and resolve medical ethical dilemmas. Delegates are expected to bring ethical dilemmas they’ve encountered in their specialism for discussion.

Aims
  • To give a grounding in practical application of ethical theory to solving ethical dilemmas encountered across a range of different specialisms.
  • To enhance attendees’ understanding of types of ethical problem.
Objectives
  • To discuss ethical theory as it applies in healthcare in different contexts e.g. at the end of life or if resources are scarce
  • To identify and analyse a range of ethical dilemmas from different medical specialisms
  • To apply a practical tool useful in resolving ethical dilemmas
Learning outcomes

After this course, delegates will be better able to identify and resolve medical ethical dilemmas.
