Subject | GP Trainer Courses |
Description | Training GPs is neither simple nor easy. With difficult exams squeezed alongside demanding work, revision, and life outside work, trainee doctors can feel overwhelmed. As trainers, you can play a vital day-to-day coaching and mentoring role in supporting your trainees' autonomous learning. However, with so little time and so much to cover, what are the most impactful ways you can help them? This workshop aims to help you support your trainees remove barriers to their own success, get clear on when and how they will achieve their goals, and build in scaffolding and support to help sustain good progress. At the end of the workshop you will have refreshed and added to your coaching and mentoring repertoire and have easy-to-use prompts to help trainees to identify and remove barriers to their development. You will also have more options for how best to support your trainees, depending on their individual needs as autonomous learners. This workshop also introduces alternative coaching approaches to the 'craft of on-your-feet communication' within the consultation, which can be useful for both exams and clinical communication. |
