DescriptionCoaching on the edge
Additional information

As coaches we can sometimes find ourselves working at our "learning edge" - that place where we question our own ability and skills when working with tricky situations, or challenges that provoke a sense of discomfort. Examples include coaching to raise the self awareness of a coachee, in order that they can develop insight into their behaviour and impact, and yet at the same time being acutely aware of the need to maintain rapport and the integrity of the relationship. Similarly, when we encounter coachees who have very different values to ourselves, how can we work effectively with them, remaining authentic and confident? How can a coach remain attentive to any possible transference, work with this in the moment and when might it become overwhelming and potentially a showstopper?

These examples of coaching on the edge provide rich learning opportunities. You are invited to bring along your own examples to this workshop, so we can explore this territory, understand for ourselves what provokes our learning edge, how do we experience them and what can we do to maintain appropriate rapport, continue to inject challenge, give feedback in the moment, be a catalyst for insight and learning for the coachee and remain true to ourselves as coaches?
